Zachary (Zac) Hathaway, M.U.S.
Zac specializes in energy usage qualitative and quantitative research and on how research can promote sustainability and energy efficiency through the implementation of policies and programs. He holds an M.A. in urban studies and a B.S. in sociology, both from Portland State University. Zac has considerable experience in the development and implementation of energy-related web, phone, and paper surveys; and the management and training of interviewers. His projects have included energy behavior research for the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, as well as work in water quality, sustainability, student health, student career and college options, and cancer genomics. Previously, Zac served as a research assistant for an independent survey office administered by Portland State University’s Office of Graduate Studies and Research. His responsibilities included overseeing data collection activities to ensure reliable data, management of interviewers, cost tracking, and data entry.
Zac’s four favorite things to do in his spare time are: urban exploration, hiking, traveling, and biking (not necessarily in that order). He also loves to cook and is currently working on mastering Thai cuisine, bread baking, and home-brewing (beer and cider!).
