In 2001-2002, Research Into Action conducted an assessment for WE Energies of the environmental attitudes of the utility's residential customers. Through four focus groups, we identified salient environmental issues and tested a survey instrument to gauge customer willingness to make trade-offs to benefit the environment. We also surveyed 700 customers and used their responses to a set of trade-off questions to segment WE's customers based on their concern for environmental issues.
