For the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA), in 2011 Research Into Action compared several industrial programs offering strategic energy management (SEM) services. These programs were: NEEA's Continuous Energy Improvement, Bonneville Power Administration's High Performance Energy Manager, Energy Trust of Oregon's Industrial Energy Improvement, EPA/DOE's ENERGY STARŪ for industry, ISO 50001, and DOE's Superior Energy Performance. Through secondary data analysis and interviews with key contacts at each program, we gained specific information about how each program defines the threshold for SEM, the relationship between SEM and capital project activity for each program, similar features across the programs, and the purpose of any dissimilar features.
