In 2013, as a subcontractor to DNV KEMA, we conducted a program and market assessment for the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) of the Food Processing Initiative (Initiative). Our work involved: in-depth case studies of Food Process Initiative participants' adoption of Strategic Energy Management (SEM), in-depth interviews with large (>250 employees) food processing firms in the region that had not participated in the Initiative, industry associations, and industrial Continuous Energy Improvement Program sponsors and consultants. DNV KEMA conducted a verification of energy savings that included: reviewing the savings analysis methods and results reported for the 13 participating food processing facilities and site visits to a sample of facilities.
