Project: Biennial Energy Conservation, Efficiency, and Demand Response Studies

Abt SRBI

Since 2002, Research Into Action and SRBI (now Abt SRBI) have collaborated on four biennial evaluations of residential consumers' awareness of energy conservation and their attitudes and behaviors toward energy use. The fourth study, conducted in 2008, involved telephone interviews with 801 residential customers of multiple utilities. Topics included participants' reasons for changing their energy use patterns or buying particular energy-saving equipment, opinions of energy-efficiency information sources, willingness to pay for a home energy audit, awareness of the ENERGY STAR brand and compact fluorescent bulbs, interest in time-of-use rates, satisfaction with their energy suppliers, and views on climate change and the U.S. energy situation.
