Project: Evaluation of Emergency Response and Crisis Management Grant

Portland Public Schools

In 2005, we conducted a process evaluation of the emergency response and crisis management (ERCM)activities of the Portland (Oregon) Public Schools. The district's Department of Security managed these activities under a grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. We interviewed 70 staff and classroom teachers and 18 trainers about the ERCM training; and evaluated the district's development of an emergency communication plan and business resumption plan, coordination and implementation of an Emergency Preparedness Week, and ongoing support of the Emergency Preparedness Planning Committee.
